If you are looking for an unpretentious, but still quality dining experience, Sylvesters fits the bill. The dining room itself is simple enough, but with an understated charm that reflects the service too. The menu is more creative, starters such as Scottish salmon cured with Edinburgh Gin, with pickled cucumber and wasabi, or the decadent rabbit ravioli spiced with toasted walnuts and a truffle cream sauce. Mains don't disappoint either with a generous venison loin crusted with black olive and accompanied by salsify, parsnip and a red wine jus. The dessert choices excel too with the likes of apple tarte tatin, lemon meringue pie or the sumptuous chocolate and pecan nut pie with salted caramel sauce.
