Self-catering lodges and holiday cottages on the private estate of a popular south Cornwall resort hotel – and enjoying all the same facilities!
The setting is wonderful – on a country estate belonging to the Budock Vean Hotel & Spa, complete with a nine-hole golf course on the banks of the River Helford – but we also love the range and quality of the self-catering accommodation here. Guests can choose between three self-catering lodges and four holiday cottages occupying what were once the estate's outbuildings.
The contemporary self-catering lodges are super-chic, with Scandinavian-style open-plan living room-kitchens set on the first floor, making the most of the views and featuring wood burners and floor-to-ceiling windows. They sleep six across three bedrooms, one of which is a glamorous penthouse-style affair on the top floor. Of the other two, one has an en-suite, and there's also a third bathroom downstairs. The traditional holiday cottages – all with enclosed gardens – sleep between four and eight people, and are child- and dog-friendly. Two interconnect – ideal for extended families.
Both the lodges and cottage come with a welcome package of tea, coffee, milk, sugar, cereal, bread, butter and jam, and most importantly, guests have use of the hotel’s many facilities – the swimming pool, outdoor hot tub, sauna, snooker room and free WiFi. From July 1st 2026, self-catering guests enjoy half-price golf on 9- or 18-hole rounds (weekday and weekend prices may vary).

Budock Vean is an idyllic place to really get away from it all. There's lots to do on site and in the immediate area if you want to be busy, but equally it's fine to just sit in the lounge, drink coffee and read a book or pamper yourself in the spa. We think we offer a perfect escape from day to day life. Come and discover us for yourself soon
Suitable For
The holiday cottages have private enclosed gardens and are great for children and pets. Two of them connect so provide a great space for two families to holiday together.
Two of our self-catering lodges, Grebe and August Rock, are also dog friendly.
If you like golf then staying in our self-catering lodge, Frenchman's Creek, is right by the course and has amazing views down the greens and fairway.
We also like walking through the hotel gardens to the private river frontage and joining one of Koru Kayaking's adventures on the river to explore smugglers creeks and places you just can't reach any other way.
Nearby
The Helford is a wonderfully rural part of Cornwall and very connected to the river. Even in the height of summer it still feels quiet and unrushed. The pace of life ebbs and flows with the tide. Just 6 miles and a 15-minute drive from Falmouth you can be in the hustle and bustle of this busy harbour town and all it has to offer, but then meander back through the country lanes to the tranquility of the Budock Vean for birdsong and the rustle of the breeze in the trees. It's a great place to relax, unwind and recharge your batteries.
Food & Drink
There's lots of lovely places within a 10-minute drive or a short walk. The picturesque Ferryboat Inn is just down the road, the cafe and tea rooms at Trebah and Glendurgan Garden are also 5 minutes away by car and accessible without having to purchase a garden ticket.
But with a varied lunch menu and an evening dinner menu that reflects our chef's use of the best local produce – you can always just stay here!
