Barford Beach House

Barford Beach House is a superbly refurbished property with an expansive sea view that is part of the Tregulland & Co portfolio of Ken and Illona Aylmer's family-owned luxury Cornish holiday properties. The building sleeps up to 14 guests in five double bedrooms and a family space (Wanson) – some can be configured as twins and all en-suite, with views of breaking surf and access to a secluded private beach at Wanson Mouth. It's also just a short walk from Widemouth Bay, with access to pubs and cafés as well as miles of beautiful sandy beaches and surf spots.

With so much glass, the house is full of light, and a balcony runs across the entire first floor so that the sea views can be enjoyed to the fullest. Interior design shows a splash of fun and a “rough-luxe” feel – smoked oak flooring, polished brass and bateau baths, a 10-foot-long Persian oak dining table, Moroccan bed throws and vibrant art. There’s even an abandoned fishing boat installed in the grounds of the house.

As well as a dramatic copper-clad kitchen/dining/sitting room, an outdoor wood-fired hot tub and indoor spa/sauna area (where you can enjoy bespoke spa treatments), the house has possibly the largest master suite we’ve ever seen, which comes with its own cocktail bar, private terrace and huge brass bath. A cinema and playroom for younger guests is well kitted out with DVDs, games and books, while for adults there is ‘The Bunker’, a secret underground retreat with an awesome sound and lighting system, pool table, retro arcade games and a classic pinball machine. It's basically your ultimate luxury Cornwall holiday home by the sea.
