If your idea of heaven is seclusion in a gorgeous setting with every luxury to hand, then Tregulland Cottage & Barn is for you…and your family and friends (and it’s dog-friendly too). Set in 16 acres of rolling Cornish countryside about an hour’s drive from Exeter, Tregulland boasts the UK’s first indoor freshwater swimming pool, its glass walled pool house and underwater lighting ideal for a sun drenched or late-night dip; after that, maybe try the steam room or outdoor wood-fired Dutch tub? There is a one-acre fishing lake (look out for Doris, the 23lb carp!), and you can expect to see kingfishers, buzzards and perhaps even the resident owl. For those who prefer to stay indoors, there is a huge cinema in the granary, super-fast wifi, ample places to curl up with a book, or you can arrange any number of personalised classes, including yoga, pilates and a massage, as well as a bespoke in-house dining service provided by local chefs, including some from Rick Stein’s famous Seafood Restaurant in Padstow.
Perhaps the most compelling feature of Tregulland, however, is its size. The Cottage and Barn are designed to be taken together, so the dining room is set up to seat everyone - up to 24 people! Every room has been designed with immense attention to detail, with luxuries such as rainfall showers, designer details and the best Egyptian cotton sheets. The Cottage alone can sleep 12 in six en-suite double bedrooms (so is a very large 'cottage' by any standards), and The Barn sleeps ten in five en-suite double rooms and even has its own home cinema and 'map room' for planning adventures - whether you fancy climbing the peaks of Rough Tor and Brown Willy on Bodmin Moor, hitting the rugged north coast beaches such as Crackington Haven (about 20 minutes away) or visiting Tintagel and Boscastle.
To be honest, though, Tregulland is so beautiful you probably won’t want to go anywhere else, it's cosy and welcoming with it's traditional cottage style with exposed beams, stone wall details and vibrant designer furnishings. It's a place to really get away from it all and savour your own private corner of Cornwall - it's also licensed for weddings and would make the perfect venue!
