Run by a family passionately committed to farming, conservation and countryside issues, the Cotswold Farm Park may be a little rough around the edges – but that’s what real farming is like. Though perhaps not the ideal destination for dedicated urbanites, this is a place to get your wellies on (they don’t mind if they’re not Hunters), get stuck in, play with tractors, climb haybales and delight in getting up close to the animals we all see in the fields as we drive around England. There are seasonal demonstrations, including lambing, milking and shearing, and you can meet some rare breeds, including Highland Cattle and good old-fashioned Oxon, and feed animals (buy a bag of feed as you enter). For a real countryside experience, you can camp here, too – just don’t expect a lie-in because the roosters won’t give you one! A delightful family destination.
