The Blue Lion
UK England North East England North Yorkshire
With the gorgeous Yorkshire Dales surrounding it, The Blue Lion is one of the area’s finest stays. It’s a Grade II listed building with a history as long as your arm – including being the last public house in England to have a 6-day licence, thanks to a previous landlady…
Today, the current owners Paul and Helen Klein have built a stunning reputation for this hotel, and it’s one which is perfect to be sharing with your dog too. Of the fifteen rooms in The Blue Lion, dogs are welcome to stay in the two Petite Doubles, the Classics or the Large Classics. The rooms are split between the main house and the convert stable building. Our choice would be the Large Classic, which offers views to the dales, tempting you to discover them later. The Large Classics also offers a bath as well as a shower, whilst all the room types have flat screen TV, free Wi-Fi and tea and coffee making facilities as standard.
Dog walking? Well, that’s the Yorkshire Dales right out there – one of the most dog-friendly areas in the North of England. The team have six walking maps available at the reception, and once you’ve finished your walk, you and your dog are welcome to enjoy a drink in the bar – provided the dog is on a lead!
