When to Travel: a Covid-19 Update

New information about the coronavirus (COVID-19) is being released every day and we have received many calls and emails about the challenges our network of businesses is facing. Everyone reading this will recognise those concerns, because we are all going through the same experiences at the same time.

Above all it has become clear that there is nothing remotely Cool about travelling anywhere in the UK at the moment, unless it is essential. If you have booked a stay somewhere in the coming weeks you will probably want to reconsider. Many of our hotels, B&Bs and other UK accommodation businesses are in any case closed, or – like Cool Places – are only taking bookings for holidays after June 1. Please contact the property direct to discuss amending your booking, and if possible please try to change your dates rather than cancel: most businesses will be flexible at this time and will be happy to amend your dates to later in the year if possible. If you do have to cancel and want a refund, please be as flexible as possible with businesses that are under severe financial pressure. If you are in any doubt about anything, please get in touch: our staff are working from home but we are still open for your calls and queries by email or by phone.

On a lighter note, we will be sharing stories and information over the next couple of months that aim to brighten the corners a little – details of our wonderful properties where appropriate, along with snippets that highlight the beauty and diversity of our country and our favourite UK places and regions. Hopefully it will provide a little bit of comfort and information during these dark times and inspire us to think of a time when UK tourism and the patchwork of local businesses that make it so special are once again firing on all cylinders.

We hope that this will be sooner rather than later, but it seems that will only happen if we all heed government advice to stay at home – dreaming of the places that we will go when it's all over. Please do consider booking a holiday or break for later in the year – it will be a boost for everyone!

We wish all Cool Places readers all the best - please stay in touch on social media and let us know where you're dreaming of going, or where you've been.
