Perched above Blue Flag Porthmeor Beach in Cornwall's St Ives is Day Dawn, a luxurious five-bedroom holiday home that's dog-welcoming, too. Lovingly renovated with attention to detail in mind, the high-spec property sleeps 11 and is ‘upside down’ by design, allowing guests to make the most of the glorious sea views from the first-floor living rooms.
Ideal for families and groups, the house harmoniously fuses contemporary comforts with coastal charm, from the spacious kitchen-diner with seating for everyone and the Juliette balcony in the lounge to the hot outdoor shower and parking for up to four cars – a rarity indeed in the town.
Wandering around the first level, take in the fully-equipped kitchen complete with an island, an L-shaped sofa, a dining table, and two ovens, before heading through to the cinema room where you'll find a flat-screen TV, an Xbox and a DVD player. In the light-filled living area beyond, discover plenty of seating – grab a spot and admire the glistening turquoise sea through the floor-to-ceiling glass doors. On colder evenings, the electric stove will keep you warm.
Bedroom-wise, the ground floor is home to a superking, two kings, a twin, and a triple (single plus a bunk bed). All are decorated in soothing tones and offer anything from doors leading to the terrace to garden/sea vistas. Three have an en-suite shower room, and there's a family bathroom with a tub and a separate shower; all have Cornish toiletries. Fluffy dressing gowns are provided, including for children, as well as slippers and Turkish beach towels. On this level is also a utility room, with a washing machine and dryer.
What about outside space? Super-stylish, with a dining table and sofas on decking for relaxing, a BBQ for al fresco cooking, and a fire pit – s'mores anyone? But that's not all: there's also a lawned section with an 'egg chair', plus storage for wetsuits and surfboards. Back indoors, thoughtful extras include toys, board games, and baby equipment such as travel cots, high chairs and stair gates, as well as Smart TVs in every bedroom and Bose speakers.
Just a stone's throw from sandy Porthmeor Beach and a 10-minute stroll from the cobbled centre of St Ives, you're as well-positioned as can be to explore the local area, from the plethora of restaurants, pubs and bars to the picturesque harbour and the Tate. Meanwhile, with Day Dawn's direct access to the South West Coast Path, walkers will be in their element. Slightly further afield, take the scenic train one stop to Carbis Bay, or jump in the car and head to any number of nearby gems, from the rugged, historic village of Zennor to seal spotting at Godrevy.

Lovely Home
What a lovely home. It was a great location, with a great view in the upstairs living room, a large, very clean, well fitted home which is perfect for big family holidays! We would love to stay here again.

30th Birthday
Our family of 11 came to this place for my 30th birthday celebrations! 4 children and 7 adults and we had the most amazing time. The house was amazing, great location and gorgeous views.

Kitchen envy!
Had a wonderful 3 night stay here and even though it was a work trip for 4 people where we were out of the house 9-5 each day, the space was so welcoming and useable we cancelled dinner plans one night and had colleagues back to the house for dinner. The garden seating was lovely and sunny, all 4 bedrooms we used were more than big enough and all the bathrooms were excellent and modern. My problem now is I have huge kitchen envy after cooking breakfast in that incredible, light space each day, it had all the utensils you could need and so much work space with that huge island! Great having parking for 4 cars too which came in handy, and it was a 5-10m walk down into St Ives town itself which has some beautiful places to eat.

Can't wait to come back
We cannot wait to come back again. The grandchildren would rather play in the house than go to the beach. The house exceeded my expectations.

Perfect Stay
Day Dawn is a stunning house and is immaculately maintained to a very high standard. It was perfect for our family holiday…the spaces are open, fresh, clean and the house has a warmness to it. It was perfect for our family holiday of 10, because there is space to all be together to eat and spend time together, but there is also enough space for people to have a bit of time to split up & relax too, as the rooms are spacious. The views are spectacular! The house is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The location is perfect for wandering to the beach and it’s easy to get into town. The hosts are fantastic!! Flawless experience re communication, tips, advice and also access/check-in, etc…all made to be seemless and stress-free. Thank you for quite literally a PERFECT stay!

Unforgettable experience
I don’t usually write reviews, mainly because I’m quite a difficult person to please. But Day Dawn completely exceeded my expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away. The location is simply breathtaking, and the house itself is finished to such a high standard you can clearly see how much thought and care Jo and Matt have put into every detail. My family and I had an amazing time here. The setting was perfect, the experience unforgettable, and it truly felt like a home away from home. I honestly can’t recommend this place enough. We’ll definitely be returning to this very house again. Thank you, Jo and Matt, for having us it meant so much. Hopefully next time we’ll have the chance to meet in person. With heartfelt thanks, The Mistry Family
