Situated in Mullion Cove, on Cornwall's Lizard Peninsula, these eight self-catering apartments – divided between the Harbour Apartments, right by the water, and Harbour View Apartments up above – couldn't be more desirable if they tried. Owned and run by the nearby Mullion Cove Hotel, they are as well equipped as you would expect a luxury Cornish holiday apartment to be, with high-end fitted kitchens and bathrooms, spacious bedrooms and living rooms that make the most of the properties' spectacular views of the sea. They're also dog-friendly, so you don't have to leave the most important member of the family at home.

The Harbour Apartments are located in a stylish, part-clapboard building; the location has a touch of New England about it, with fishing boats, the harbour and the Atlantic just beyond. The Harbour View apartments are located high above and have wonderful sea- and countryside views. All the apartments sleep between 2 and 6 people, so they're perfect for both romantically entwined couples and families looking for an adventure. Available all year, each one is well insulated with heating and double-glazing, and cool in summer and warm in winter; they all have Nespresso machines, large screen TVs and DVD players, Netflix and and wifi throughout; furnishings are crisp and contemporary, with plenty of room for sofa-lounging, and comfy Hypnos beds which along with the sound of the sea make for a really good night's sleep, leaving you refreshed and ready to explore the surrounding area.

The Mullion Cove hotel is nearby if you fancy a drink or something to eat in its excellent restaurant or more relaxed bar – and, like the hotel, you are within reach of some the best stretches of the South West Coast path in Cornwall, with great coastal walks and lots of outdoor attractions, from surfing to sea-kayaking, seal-spotting to birdwatching and fishing to horseriding. That is, of course, if you can bring yourself to leave the cool and very comfortable environs of your waterside apartment.
