Sail House
South East England Hampshire Southampton
- Sleeps 16
There are some holiday properties that pack in so much Wow Factor it's hard to know where to start, and Sail House is definitely one of those. Just a few minutes' walk from the pretty Hamble river, on the outskirts of Southampton, its 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms make it a property for a get-together or special occasion, or just an extended family trip, but its many and varied facilities lift it up to the next level. You'll be amazed at just how much in the way of little luxuries and extra facilities is packed into this deceptively grand and very thoughtfully renovated holiday house.
First the ground floor, which centres on a large and contemporary living and dining area that flows through to a bright kitchen equipped with everything you could possible need for communal feasting, including oven and hob, fridge and freezer, dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine. There is a separate utility room with a washing machine and dryer. Doors open out onto the garden from both spaces, to reveal a pin-neat garden with a good-sized outdoor swimming pool which is kept warm in summer, hot tub and an outdoor bar. Back inside, there's a games room with a pool table and beyond that a cinema room, with music provided by a Sonos sound system that works throughout the house. As regards bedrooms, there's bedroom with two bunk beds on the ground floor, and a further 5 double/twin bedrooms upstairs, two of which have their own en-suite bathrooms. One bedroom is set up with 4 bunk beds. Just in case that's not enough, the house also boats its own sauna and steam room plus a hot tub. The only drawback is having to leave...
Finally, the location is a peach – located in the pretty and historic village of Hamble-le-Rice, on the river Hamble – a mecca for yachties and their sailing boats, and with lots of places to eat and drink (those of a certain age may remember it as the focus of the long-running UK TV soap, 'Howard's Way'). Southampton is just a 20-minute drive away, and you're just a few minutes away from a variety of attractions, including Netley Abbey, Royal Victoria Country Park and Warsash on the far side of the river, a similarly 'boaty' village that is reachable by ferry.
