Located in the heart of Chester, right by the river, this magnificent seven-bedroomed Regency residence sits right on top of the city's ancient Roman Walls, overlooking the river Dee. It's a luxurious holiday home by any standards,  but its position, conveniently placed for the best of Chester's pubs, cafés and restaurants, not to mention Grosvenor Park and the racecourse, makes it a wonderful option for any large group self-catering break.

Inside on the ground floor it has a huge open-plan living space with an open fire, Smart TV, Bluetooth surround-sound speakers and a Bluetooth jukebox, a snug living room lined with books, and a lower ground games room with table football an air hockey and a private cinema too. There'a a lovely large dining table with room for up to 14 people, and a kitchen that has been equipped with   Its seven spacious bedrooms all with super-king-size beds (some of which can be easily converted to twins), their own TVs and bathroom facilities – some have free-standing en-suite baths as well. The decor throughout is sharp and contemporary, furnished with flair and style, and witha colour palette of greys and blues highlighted with splashes of colour. Outside there is a small garden with patio, lawn and terrace, complete with outdoor furniture and a barbecue.

As for Chester, it really is a superb place for a city break, with great food and decent nightlife, lots to see from the remnants of its Roman origins to medieval churches, its famous timbered Tudor architecture and world famous zoo. It's also a good base for Snowdonia, Anglesey and the North Wales coast, and close to Liverpool if you want to combine with a full-on metropolitan break.
