A collection of charming cottages of varying sizes, set within idyllic Northumberland countryside

There's something to suit most people at Beacon Hill Farm, whether you're looking for a romantic bolthole for two, a holiday home to make memories with your family, or a relaxing getaway for a small bunch of friends. Situated in Northumberland, just a quarter of an hour from Morpeth and less than 30 minutes from the beaches like Creswell, there are 15 stone-built cottages to choose from, plus a host of communal amenities for all ages to enjoy, including a spa and gym with a sauna, Jacuzzi, and heated indoor pool, and a private lake where you can fish, wild swim and paddleboard.

Charming and characterful, the cottages all have certain things in common: rustic features like wooden beams and exposed stone walls fused with contemporary features, be it a log burner, upside-down design, or EV charging. Some are spread across two floors, others are one-level and accessible. Choose Willow if you're after a single-storey property with three bedrooms and bathrooms, full-height windows, a farmhouse-style kitchen, and a south-facing garden with a terrace. Opt for Beech if it's a split-level place you're seeking, complete with three bedrooms, a living area on the top floor where you can make the most of the outstanding vistas, and a private patio. If you're searching for a cosy hideaway for two, go for Wood Cottage, a former joiner’s workshop, thoughtfully transformed into a stylish retreat for couples. Meanwhile, Oak and Elm sit side by side: both are laid out over one storey, sleep four across two bedrooms, and have kitchens with granite worktops.

It's easy to spend your time at Beacon Hill Farm and enjoy all it has to offer, but it would be a shame to miss discovering the region, whether it's visiting Alnwick Castle, heading into Northumberland National Park for hiking – there are more than 600 miles of marked footpaths – spending the day in Newcastle, or taking a boat to The Farne Islands, a haven for nature and wildlife lovers. Then back to Beacon Hill Farm to use more of the excellent shared amenities, from the games room where you'll find a pool table, air hockey and table tennis, to the outdoor play area, cricket net, boules court, and Harry Potter-inspired woodland trail.
