Imagine going to stay with some very dear friends in an upmarket Cotswold town; their cooking is bordering on cordon bleu, and they have degrees in interior design. That's how it feels if you book one of the eight rooms at Burford House. Each room is different (check out the website for the individual specs), and beautifully and thoughtfully appointed – flatscreen TVs with integral DVD/CD player, satellite channels, broadband, mineral water and a tip-top bathroom including Penhaligon toiletries and wonderful bathrobes. You'll be treated like you're king for a weekend.
Breakfast is famously wonderful – it's full English of course, but with thoughtful and interesting additions such as eggy bread, bubble and squeak and black pudding. Although there's a wealth of eateries throughout the town, check out the hotel for supper too- you won't be disappointed.
The only downside is that the hotel is on Burford's busy main street, which means that some road noise is inevitable (lorries are allowed to drive through the centre of the town) and that parking can sometimes be an issue.
