River Cottage Glamping Retreats

On the border between Devon and Dorset, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's River Cottage has long been a favoured destination for foodies from all over the UK. But now you can stay there too, in their beautiful farmhouse or in one of their brand new luxury glamping retreats – basically two bell tents, where you can wake up  and be served breakfast fresh from their kitchen and enjoy a barbecue each night that has been put together by River Cottage chefs.

This is proper luxury glamping, with real beds (you can choose between twins or doubles), high quality bedding, woollen throws and sheepskin rugs, bedside tables and solar lighting. Each can sleep up to 2 adults and 2 children. Outside there's a private seating area for you to sit back and enjoy the views over the gorgeous Axe valley – which are worth spending the night here for alone – and a nearby shepherd’s hut has showers and loos.

It's also a gourmet glampng experience, which starts with a seasonal cocktail on arrival and breakfast delivered to your tent each morning (as you might expect its pretty good, with freshly-made sourdough bread from the kitchen and their homemade jams, yoghurts and muesli with fresh fruit and fruit juices). You also finish off each day with a selection of barbecue hampers full of goodies for you to cook up in the fantastic outdoor kitchen – basically ingredients to make a selection of spectacular River Cottages chefs' suppers (2 veg, 1 meat, 1 fish). There's even a member of the kitchen team to lend a hand if needed. – not least with lighting the fire and of course doing the washing up: truly luxury glamping at its best!
