Renowned fish restaurant in a light and airy contemporary building, with floor-to-ceiling windows giving breathtaking views over the harbour and Cobb. Owned by chef Mark Hix, the restaurant specializes in local fish and seafood; the service is friendly and informal and children are happily accommodated. Everything is fresh and beautifully cooked (try the whole Portland sea bass), but as you might expect it’s not cheap. However, there are some less pricey options, such as fish pie and local grilled mackerel, both delicious, and there is a good-value three-course set menu. The wine list is topnotch, with some unusual offerings such as the Portuguese Tonnix, which complements the fish perfectly.
