A beautiful church built in 1820, the church of St Mary in the Yorkshire Dales is without question worth a visit. And what a landscape it is: St Mary’s Church is situated in Arkengarthdale, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Based in one of just 21 locations worldwide certified by Dark Sky International as a Dark Sky Reserve. the night skies here are spectacular, and if you're lucky you may catch a glimpse of the Milky Way. Either way, you will be able to enjoy some of the clearest night skies in the country, unspoilt by light pollution. You're also very well placed for some of the best circular walks and hikes Yorkshire Dales' has to offer, so there's no excuse for not getting outdoors.
It's easy to make yourself at home in the church, which is very cosy, and has an indoor loo and a kitchen equipped with a sink, kettle, fridge, and microwave.
