Wonderful stay in the stunning Yorkshire Wolds at Dale Farm Holidays.

Wonderful stay in the stunning Yorkshire Wolds at Dale Farm Holidays. We stayed in the self contained studio with our dog but they also have a lovely B&B as well as nice wooden cabins for a bit of posh camping. The grounds are beautiful with a small woodland and fields all around, and lots of quirky features you don't expect like the vegetable garden and the sculptures dotted around the place. We chose the B&B option for the studio as well and the breakfasts were delicious. It would be a great location for a country wedding. They have a large barn/studio which could host a great party. Lots of lovely beach walks very close and it's a great location as a perfect base for cycling the 'wolds way' cycle route. Easy access to Filey, Scarborough etc and we had a couple of nice trips to National Trust locations near by. I hear the mountain biking at Dalby Forest is excellent and there is a 'Go Ape' there for kids. All in all, a wonderful holiday location and we will definitely be returning.

Our favourite spot

Glamping couples, dogs – yes. A group of 6 six could hire out the 3 cabins exclusively.

The local area

Dale Farm is a gateway to Whitby and the North Yorkshire Coast. Bridlington and the Yorkshire Wolds are synonymous with the town's most-famous resident, David Hockney. Hop on the Hockney trail to explore that landscapes that inspired some of the great man's work. If you're feeling particularly energetic, why not have a crack at the 79 mile Yorkshire Wolds Way? Twenty minute's drive away, Dalby Forest offers world-class mountain biking trails, plus a Go Ape! (0843 770 3911) high-wire course. The moorland nature reserve at nearby Staindale offers stunning views of the Bridestones, Crosscliff and Blakey Topping (01723 870423). Further north, Filey is great for sailing and sea fishing at Filey Brigg. For twitchers, RSPB Bempton (01262 851179) is easily the best place in England to see seabirds. Further up the coast, Scarborough makes for a great day out with its castle, South Bay and famous Spa.

Best local places to eat and drink

Liz's delicious breakfast butties are made to order. A mile and a half away in Hunmanby village, you'll find a decent selection of shops, plus a couple of cracking little pubs in The Cottage Inn (01723 892475) and Horse Shoe Inn (01723 892439). Bridlington boasts a few little culinary gems including the Little Organic Bakery (07853303049) and Audrey's (01262 671920), Brid's best chippy.
