As with all great B&Bs, what really makes Richmond House special are the people who run it. Heather and Brian manage to make you feel instantly at home, and look after you wonderfully too, with nice extra touches such as home-made muffins delivered to your door. A ten-minute walk from the centre of Chichester, Richmond House has just three boutique-style rooms, tastefully decorated and decked out with fresh flowers, Liberty fabrics and high-end toiletries: Room Two has French doors overlooking the garden, while Room Three comes with a huge bathroom complete with carved stone angels. Breakfasts feature plenty of home-made treats, amongst them tofu and chestnut sausages for the veggies among you, plus local artisan sourdough and walnut and pumpkin seed bread, and buttermilk pancake stacks with a choice of fillings. The perfect blend of luxury and hospitality, it’s honestly difficult to see how Richmond House could be bettered.
B&B: £85–£120 Sun–Thurs, £90–£125 Fri & Sat. Room only: £60–£95 Sun–Thurs only.
