LIverpool has some great places to stay, but there is nothing else quite like this artsy B&B, tucked away on a peaceful residential street in a grade-II-listed Georgian townhouse yet still very central and close to all the Liverpool's main attractions, including its two monumental cathedrals and lots of cultural venues and nightspots. Its owners, Glenn and Sarah, are also the very best hosts.

2 Blackburne Terrace would be an elegant place to stay in any city, from the grand dining room full of art to the quietly elegant guest lounge lined with books and the four individually designed suites that have been furnished with a lot of care, love and no little expense. Each has mood lighting, antique furnishings and rich, heavy curtains framing large light Georgian windows, and big comfy beds with high quality linen, good wifi, large Smart TVs and Sonos music systems. One room has a free-standing bath, while others have either free-standing baths or walk-in showers, plus of course robes and slippers and well-chosen high-end toiletries. Even the tea- and coffee-making facilities are a cut above the norm, with speciality teas and coffees, treats and fresh milk.

Central, stylish and classically contemporary, 2 Blackburne Terrace is highly recommended, and uniquely comes with its own art gallery next door, making it an even better choice for budding collectors!
