Beautiful holiday cottages in the heart of the Kent countryside
Deep in the heart of the Kent countryside, in the upper Medway valley, Bore Place is the ultimate rural retreat, a 500-acre organic dairy farm and market garden that is also home to some rather special holiday accommodation – everything from free-range glamping to three fabulous holiday properties, two of which are perfect for large groups and family gatherings.

It's a beautiful spot by any standards, with views across the valley, woods full of wildlife and home to stunning walks, spectacular summer sunsets and a perfect location in the heart of the Kent Downs, just outside the perfectly preserved Tudor village of Chiddingstone. However, Bore Place is much more than just a farm: not only does it have its own holiday accommodation, it's also an environmental charity that pioneers renewable energy, sustainability and food provenance; they run courses and workshops, yoga retreats and it's a popular place to get married. No wonder – there aren't many locations as idyllic this close to the capital.

Of the two large properties, sleeping 25 and 19 people respectively, Bore Place House is a lovely redbrick Jacobean house with 12 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, a big comfy sitting room with an open fire, a further sitting room with a wood-burner and a large well-equipped kitchen and dining room. It's surrounded by formal gardens with terraces and ponds, lawns and lovely, well-tended borders. The slightly smaller 19th-century Old Stables, nearby, has 11 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms and is more accessible to wheelchair users, and has access to a courtyard garden. Finally, across the courtyard from the Old Stables, the Small Barn has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a kitchenette and sitting room with a wood-burner, and is ideal for small groups or a family of four.

There's a built-in sense of occasion at Bore Place, but you don't need a special occasion to come here – far from it. You can explore the sumptuous grounds on foot (they have downloadable maps and routes), visit the local villages or hire a bike and cycle to nearby Bough Beech reservoir, which is run by the Kent Wildlife Trust and is a haven for birdwatchers. In short, it's a great place for Londoners to escape to the country if they don't want to go far.

The 500-acre estate itself is organically managed and consequently is teaming with wildlife. There is a series of walks straight from the door.
There are three properties to choose from sleeping 4 - 25, or for large groups, all the houses can be rented together.
Bore Place is a centre of sustainability and a non-profit organisation. All profits are ploughed back into our educational programmes connecting young people with nature and the outdoors.
