A two-person hideaway in West Sussex – the ideal base for exploring the South Downs National Park
If you're looking for a characterful getaway for two in Fernhurst, West Sussex (or are travelling solo), The Loft is for you. It features an open-plan bedroom (configurable as a double or twin) and living space, characterised by a tall, beamed, sloping ceiling and traditional floorboards. At one end, you'll find a dinky but well-equipped kitchen, and at the other, a large bathroom with a freestanding tub.
The intimate bolthole is self-contained, accessed via a steep, narrow staircase with restricted head height (making it unsuitable for wheelchair users or guests with mobility issues). Also worth noting: The Loft is above the owners' main residence – totally private, but you may see them occasionally.
If you head out to explore, the South Downs National Park has much to offer on foot and by bike, with Blackdown, the highest point in the county, close by. Historic Arundel is reachable in just over half an hour by car, and the same goes for Chichester, while Haslemere is a brief eight-minute drive. Fancy a pint and a bite to eat? The Red Lion pub is a short stroll away. But equally, The Butler Collection is on hand with its concierge service to arrange private chef dining and services such as wellness sessions and beauty treatments back at The Loft.
