Part of the renowned Chestnut collection, The Anchor Inn is situated in a Grade II listed building in the Suffolk village of Nayland, just 15 minutes from Colchester. It's a charming country pub , with two bars (one inside, the other in the garden), a main restaurant and two private dining rooms. There's also an upper deck, where functions take place for up to 70 people, as well as regular 'Sessions' music events.
The food? Seasonal British fare that's all about comfort, featuring dishes like prawn cocktail with citrus-crushed avocado and spiced Marie Rose sauce, pea and black garlic risotto, classics like fish and chips and Caesar salad, and roasts on a Sunday (alongside a selection of other options). On Wednesdays, it's 'Wine Club' night, when you can bring your own bottle for just £5. One rule applies: order two
courses, including a main.
