Set on a clifftop above the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, YHA Manorbier is a hostel where the location does most of the talking. Overlooking Skrinkle Haven Beach, walking trails run right past the door, and it's a place made for swimming, hiking and evenings watching the sun sink into the sea.
The building itself is something of a curiosity. Previously owned by the Ministry of Defence, it was transformed into a family-friendly hostel with simple, comfortable rooms sleeping up to 68 across the main building and an annexe. There's plenty of communal space and some of the best coastal views you'll find from a YHA. Accommodation-wise, choose from private rooms (some en-suite) and shared dorms, plus glamping pods, bell tents and pitch camping for the more adventurous. A self-catering kitchen and dining area help keep costs down, or head to the on-site Skrinkle Café & Bar for breakfast, lunch, dinner and post-walk drinks, if you prefer.
Outside, a short walk down takes you to Church Doors Cove, a small amphitheatre-shaped beach framed by limestone cliffs and natural arches. Meanwhile, the Pembrokeshire Coast Path stretches out in either direction. History lovers won't want to miss nearby Manorbier Castle, while Tenby is only a 20-minute drive away.
An excellent base whether you're with family, planning an outdoor weekend with friends, or travelling solo, it's a relaxed, affordable and well-positioned YHA that lets Pembrokeshire's spectacular coastline take centre stage.
