One of the most characterful old boozers in the city centre, with a history dating back as far as 1864. Tucked just around from Central Station this gritty bar is actually rather grand inside with a sweeping horseshoe shaped central bar. Cold and creamy Scottish ‘heavy’ ales are the stars alongside well priced whiskies. The talk is often of football, the craic hearty and provided you don’t start flashing photographs you will be perfectly welcome to sample a slice of Glasgow pub culture a million miles away from the new wave of style bars. Just don’t ask for a Pimms. This is the land of cooked breakfasts under £2.
