Reclining right on the western edge of Loch Lomond, the largest loch in Scotland, Cameron House enjoys a privileged locale, with sweeping views of the bonnie, bonnie banks, the loch itself and Ben Lomond rising up in the distance on the far shore. After a multi-million pound refurbishment over the last decade it can also now claim to be a fully-fledged international class resort, and it certainly has it all – its own boating marina, a championship golf course, a first-rate spa (refurbished in 2014) and a Michelin-starred restaurant. Oh, and 135 luxurious rooms, including 23 suites, each awash with trimmings including designer toiletries, an ipod dock and Egyptian cotton bedding. For a real treat, book a loch view room or even one of the suites that have their own balconies overlooking the water. A speedboat ride on the loch in their own boat is night obligatory. If you really want to show off arrive by sea plane.
