My first time camping with my children as a single parent. And having decided to go away with a group of friends in the UK, and then having agreed on the approximate destination, it was time to hunt for a suitable venue to house all our different demands – which included being close to the beach, an indoor swimming pool, restaurant and bar on site, close to town and good surfing close by. To my amazement we satisfied all of the above with this site. There are two entertainment venues, one which, to be honest wasn't my cup of tea ( bingo, and entertainer every night, karaoke, etc) but the two times we did go, it was packed, and the kids enjoyed it. The other right above the beach was perfect. The serve quick easy food. reasonable prices, theres a pub in there also. Heated indoor swimming pool. and also a small arcade, which the kids loved. The walk to the beach is just down the sand dunes, although there is a path from the bar too. For me the two most important features were close to the beach and a bar on site. mainly because not being selfish but its my holiday as well and it gave me oportunity to relax while the kids and numerous things to entertain themselves. The best part is the beach, which is fantastic, probably about 4-5 miles wide, with great surf; we all had a fantastic time with body boards. I would strongly advice you buy wetsuits.....purely because the kids gets so much more out of the holiday being warm in the sea..... they don't have to be expensive I paid less than £100 for three children (£15 each and £50 for myself). I would also recommend spending a bit more on the body boards. The flimsy polystyrene ones only last 5 minutes before they snap. Again we paid £20 each so another £100 including a bit more for an adult size for me, But it was an investment as we now have all the wetsuits and boards for this year.

The site is just round the bay from St Ives, ia 15 minute drive, and you can also catch a train which is fund for the kids, from the next town along. Finally... I can't recommend this site highly enough. I'm quite a fussy person, but it ticked all my boxes and all those of my friends as well. The price for two weeks with elec hook-up around £400..... a complete bargain considering what is on offer.

PS. if its your first time camping in Cornwall which it was for me last year (2011), if you're wondering why you see some people packing up and leaving on the Friday night......I'll say one word....GRIDLOCK . Nine hours to get home on the Saturday back to was hell....Take my advice leave on the Friday evening. Get home late and enjoy Saturday reminising about your great holiday. Enjoy xxx
