The Neuadd B&B Suites

Situated in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, and with spectacular panoramic mountain views, The Neuadd is a pretty special B&B. From this splendid location, guests need only venture through the flower meadow to access a wealth of wonderful walks. There are paths leading into the Black Mountains or along the Usk River, or guests can follow the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal or stroll into Crickhowell, the charming town recently selected as the Best Place to Live in Wales by The Sunday Times.

The Neuadd operates a compelling concept, which they call 'Freedom B&B.' It's a pleasingly flexible arrangement – there's no need to arrange an arrival time and you let yourself in with a unique keycode. Best of all, your luxurious continental breakfast can be enjoyed at any time, giving you the chance for some deliciously long lie-ins.

There are three large suites to choose from, each including a bedroom, living area, and dining area. They each all come with a king-size bed and plenty of space for outdoor gear. All have tea- and coffee-making facilities and a fridge, WiFi and Freeview TVs, plus access to a laundry and drying room. Courtyard Suite is on the ground floor and has a walk-in shower, whilst Loft Suite and Vinetree Suite are accessed via a short stairway and have individual bathrooms with showers over the bath. If you’d prefer to self-cater then The Neuadd also have several cottages and apartments. 

Your helpful hosts Julia and Peter are invaluable sources of local information. Ask them for the best spots for wild swimming, mountain hikes or where to find 2000-year-old yew trees. They even supply you with a detailed ‘holiday planner’ before you arrive for inspiration on things to do. Be sure to take them up on their suggested scenic route to get here which takes in spectacular views via a truly epic mountain road. 

If you wish to explore the area on two-wheels, the local eBike hire shop can deliver bikes to you – Julia and Peter can recommend some lovely cycling routes along the canal and disused railway. So whether you venture to the cool independent shops of Crickhowell, the foodie mecca of Abergavenny, or simply enjoy the unspoilt starry skies soundtracked by hooting owls back at base, a stay at The Neuadd is an experience to remember.
