Forest Holidays Brecon Beacons

One of two locations in Wales, Forest Holidays Brecon Beacons sits at the southern end of the national park near Garwnant, amid over 400 acres of woodland – a beautiful natural site whose 43 timber cabins blend in perfectly with a landscape you can explore on foot, by bike and through a wide array of outdoor activities.

It's a tremendous place for families looking to connect with nature in a safe and sustainable way, and as usual, there's a wide choice of accommodation available, from super-romantic Golden Oak hideaway cabins for two to fabulous Golden Oak treehouses which can accommodate up to 10 people.  All the cabins have big floor-to-ceiling windows, kitchen facilities and wifi, and are stylishly furnished in a contemporary style. Most have wood-burning stoves to keep things cosy, and unlike other Forest Holidays locations, they all have their own hot tubs on the decking outside. Most are dog-friendly, and some – the so-called White Willow Premium cabins –  offer additional features like outdoor pizza ovens, barbecues and fridges for the ultimate alfresco dining experience.

As regards other facilities, the site has its own shop and visitor centre, bike hire and all manner of activities on offer from dedicated forest rangers, although you may be happy enough exploring on your own following the many forest trails on foot or by bike. Beyond the site, you are also well placed for all sorts of high-adrenaline adventures – the world's fastest zip wire at Zip World Tower, a 20-minute drive away, whitewater rafting at Pontsticill Reservoir, climbing to the summit of nearby Cadair Fawr (or 'Big Chair'), or even the peak of Pen-y-Fan, which at 886m is the highest spot in south Wales, accessible on a circular route from the Storey Arms Outdoor Centre,  a few miles north of the Forest Holidays site.
