Scotland has been voted the world’s number-one mountain biking destination, and it is easy to see why, with such a breadth of scenery and a multitude of riding options. Integral to this recent success has been the rise of dedicated mountain bike centres, such as this one in the Borders, which offers myriad runs, from easier green and blue trails, up to more technical red and black routes. There is also a skills loop and free-ride park, where riders can develop their skills, and on-site bike hire and tuition are available at The Peel development, which opened in 2011. It also has an excellent restaurant serving affordable food.
