The welcoming and nurturing SEED Hub, opened by legendary PR maven Lynne Franks, boasts a set of beautiful, eco-friendly boutique bedrooms that make a terrific place to stay if you're looking for somewhere in this part of the world. But it is much more than just a B&B; it's an all-round holistic 'healing destination', with a delightful vegan/vegetarian café and quirky bookstore that runs regular events – and Lynne also hosts regular retreats and wellbeing weekends for women that pull together all sorts of healthy and mindful activities.

Housed in a beautifully renovated 17th-century alehouse in the centre of the pleasant Somerset town of Wincanton, the Hub's basic premise is to offer respite from the often unhealthy stresses and pressures of everyday life, particularly if you need a break during this time of transformation and regeneration.  A warm and welcoming environment, it has just four cosy and tastefully furnished guest rooms, each named after flowers and provided with extremely comfortable beds with organic cotton sheets and ‘magical’ alpaca duvets and pillows. Every room has pure water served in special 'sacred geometry' glassware, unlimited organic tea and coffee and either en-suite or private bathrooms and organic cotton towels with natural toiletries. Jasmine has a luxurious king size bed and an en-suite bathroom, plus direct access onto a sun terrace; Lily has a comfy double bed with en-suite bathroom and access to the property's ‘secret walled’ garden; while Rose also has a comfy king size bed and exclusive use of a spacious bathroom with a lovely large bath across the corridor. Finally Magnolia is a peaceful attic bedroom with twin beds and an en-suite shower room. The Hub also boasts its own treatment room where visitors can pre-book from a selection of healing, enjoyable massages and natural beauty experiences.

Breakfasts, served in the cosy and colourful residents lounge, are a healthy blend of fresh croissants from a local bakery, and organic yoghurt and gluten-free granola, either setting you up a a day at The Hub itself – particularly so if you have booked one of the retreats or wellness weekends – or exploring the beautiful Somerset countryside on your doorstep, or even Wincanton itself. It's best-known for its racecourse but it also has a historic centre focused on a wide main street peppered with cafés and indy shops that are well worth a browse. Lynne curates her SEED Store next door to the Hub - a cornucopia of colour, textiles, fairtrade fashion, artisan jewellery, natural beauty products and SEED's own eco T-shirts, candles, incense and much more. The Hub's charming café is open in the day and makes for the perfect spot to enjoy a coffee and various plant-based treats. Close to the borders of both Dorset and Wiltshire, The Hub is also not far the uniquely artsy small town of Bruton, home to the Hauser & Wirth Gallery, the amazing Newt country estate and the lovely village of Castle Cary. It's also wonderfully easy to get to – just off the 'Highway to the Sun', the A303!
