UK Travel: A Coronavirus Update

6 Guildford Crescent Cardiff CF10 2HJ

Easily recognisable from the bright orange exterior, Gwdihw – pronounced ‘goody-hoo’ and meaning ‘Little Owl’ in Welsh – is worth a visit any day or night of the week. Ostensibly a cafe-bar, this intimate little venue packs in a serious programme of alternative happenings, from live music (pop, folk, jazz, gypsy klezmer and so on) and film, to comedy, poetry and all kinds of micro-festivals. Even if there’s nothing going on, pop in for a coffee or pint of beer. The place looks happily lived in, too, with retro furnishings scattered around, and odds, sods and other strange accoutrements stuck to the walls. There’s also a neat little garden terrace out back for when the sun shines.
