Buenos Aires Café

86 Royal Hill Greenwich London SE10 8RT

It's just café, and does all the things a café should do, but most of them much better than people are used to in the Greenwich area. Maybe it's because of the location, tucked away up Royal Hill away from the tourist hubbub of the town centre; or maybe it's because they're careful here to go the extra mile to get things right: the coffee is in a different league from local chains, sandwiches are made to order, using bread from nearby Boulangerie Jade, who also supply the luscious French pastries. As the name suggests, it's Argentinian after a fashion: they've got maps and a football shirt on the wall and sell mate and other Argentine treats, notably some great wines, plus deli stuff and fancy continental dry goods to take away. But mostly this place is about good food, cheerfully served, and enjoyed in a relaxed, homely environment that is a great complement to the full-blown restaurant up the top of the hill in Blackheath village.
