Walk to Telegraph Tower

St Mary’s

Suck in the scenery from the highest point on the islands, where, in 1898, Telegraph Tower received the then-longest transmarine wireless signal. Take up the coast path from Porthmellon Beach towards Porth Loo, skirting the 16th-century fortifications of Harry’s Walls and perhaps being tempted by the delectable treats at Juliet’s Garden Restaurant. From the prominent Telegraph Tower that rises beyond the golf course, you can follow the lane to Bant’s Carn Burial Chamber and the remains of the ancient Halangy Village. From here rejoin the coastal route at Bar Point, where a submerged sandbar stretches to Tresco, or turn inland and follow the lanes to Longstone Heritage Centre.
