Well established as the islands' most famous bakery, hungry punters flock from all over the Scillies come here to stock up for picnics and lunches and to enjoy great pizzas. Glass-fronted cabinets are crammed with fresh baking – speciality breads such as sea lettuce and sun-dried tomato ciabatta, cakes, slices, pies, croissants and rolls stuffed with local ingredients. By night the bakery might close its doors but business doesn’t stop – takeaway pizzas are delivered island-wide (try the ‘Seafarers Smokey’, topped with island-smoked salmon, mullet and mackerel). Out of season, owner Barney bakes bread to order on a weekly basis.
