Trigony House Hotel & Garden Spa
Deep in the green, rolling countryside of Southwest Scotland, this extremely comfortable 18th century house is as tranquil a place as you could imagine. Owner and chef Adam Moore and his wife really get that peoples' needs are much more straightforward than hoteliers sometimes think: a comfortable room with a decent bed, great locally sourced food and the ability to quickly relax and feel at home. The facilities are good with a spa, with reiki treatments available for dogs. Dogs are welcomed like old friends at an oasis that has been named 'Best Dog Friendly Hotel in the UK'. They lay on dog beds, towels and bowls.
The Owner Says
Our Favourite RoomPersonally I love room 6 for its garden & countryside views and with a cosy seating area, a super king sized bed and rainwater shower over the double ended bath it ticks all my box's.
What’s special about our area?
There is some truly beautiful countryside to explore in south west Scotland, the beautiful river valley which we overlook follows the course of the River Nith all the way down to the Solway Coast and Caerlaverock Castle. There are dramatic cliff top Coastal paths a wee bit further along the Coast at Sandy Hills & Rockcliffe and inland from us are the rolling hills of the Southern Uplands - just a couple of miles north of Trigony. If visiting castles is on your list the then they don't get much more atmospheric than the Ruins of Morton Castle on its own wee loch which is just minutes from Trigony or the rather more splendid side Drumlanrig Castle & Estate makes for a fascinating day out.
Best local places to eat and drink?
We love cooking with all the wonderful local ingredients at Trigony and our guests site the food as one of the main reasons for a return stay, but we are also fortunate to have a few lovely little restaurants locally; The Auldgirth Inn a couple of miles south of Trigony has a great local reputation and the Piccola Italia in the lovely Village of Moniaive also has a good reputation. But it's also worth remembering that from Trigony you can be in Glasgow in an hour or Edinburgh in an hour and a half for a sophisticated city day out.
Why stay with us?
At Trigony we specialize in providing a relaxed home from home, but we can also organize some great activities, including mountain bike hire along with some fantastic local off road routes, Falconry experiences in the hotel grounds & Horse riding through the Nith Valley less than a mile away.
