Galgorm Resort & Spa serves up a tranquil and luxurious setting for those in search of a luxurious break from the hustle of city life. The hotel is nestled in 163 acres of picturesque parkland yet is only a 40-minute drive from Belfast's city centre, making it an ideal base for exploring a bit more of what Northern Ireland has to offer. An £11 million refurbishment in 2007 upgraded Galgorm to an opulent 4-star hotel, with 75 bedrooms and an outdoor and indoor spa area. The rooms are both stylish and decadent, with a mixture of standard, superior, deluxe and junior suites. Some rooms offer spectacular views over the river (log cabins and cottages in the grounds are also available). Downstairs, the Gillies Bar & Grill serves high quality pub fare, with summer barbecues a common occurrence on the beautiful Mulberry Garden patio. For a more formal dining experience try the River Room Restaurant (overlooking the River Maine): you can really push the boat out here, with the 'Taste of Antrim' five- or seven-course menu, which includes sea trout and local lamb. The recent addition of the Fratelli Ristorante gives guests a third dining option, with rustic pizzas and traditional Italian dishes making it the ideal choice for young families. A great, upscale alternative very close to Belfast, that's ideal for both couples and families.
