This award-winning design hotel has made a quick name for itself, with its light, sleek exterior just down from central Waverley station hiding a stunning cracked-stone atrium and a host of very fine rooms. This is modern, confident Scotland in hotel form, from cosy bolthole rooms to an indulgent suite with views from a private terrace (plus binoculars and telescope), complete with fireplace and double-shower bathroom. The style is cool and contemporary, with some judicious Scot-Scandi colours and furnishings, while you can expect standard room features like rainfall showers, Apple TV and Bluetooth speakers.
First impressions are great, since reception is up on the seventh floor, so you get panoramic city views the minute you arrive. And if you haven’t got one of the high-end rooms that come with complimentary mini-bar, the top-floor lounge and champagne and oyster bar should go some way to compensate. As for location, you couldn’t be more central – right opposite the station and just a few short (uphill) minutes from the Royal Mile.
