Unlike the Fringe, the Book Festival takes place in one area, a small tented village in Charlotte Square, in the heart of the New Town. In any given year, expect to find world-famous authors, topical discussions, some great childrens’ events, lively readings, a bit of music and a stimulating bookish atmosphere during the fortnight-long event, which is considered among the premier literary festivals in the world.
