Artist Residence Brighton

33 Regency Square, Brighton, BN1 2GG 01273 324 302

We say

When it comes to boutique hotels there are few that do it better than the Artist Residence, with 24 guest rooms many of which have been individually designed by their artists in residence! With so much variety, it's hard to summarise the look and feel, but it's safe to say you'll find pretty much any style you're looking for, from stark minimalist designs to loud pop-art decor or wooden clad Caribbean huts. The inevitable outcome of such a mix of bedroom styles is an informal atmosphere throughout the rest of the hotel – a laid-back vibe that is only accentuated by the vibrant Cocktail Shack, a super cool bar next door run by the same people. All rooms are en-suite and most have excellent sea views across the West Pier, a result of the prime seafront position on Regency Square. Along with flat screen TVs, free WI-FI and tea/coffee facilities, rooms feature vintage and up-cycled furniture and cosy king-sized beds. Breakfast is served in a room with perhaps the best views of the lot and sees locally sourced ingredients sizzled up into delicious fare, most notably the mini full english with Brighton Sausage Co. sausages. As quirky as they come, and all the better for it, the Artist Residence Brighton is a cool and unique place to stay, with a central location adding the icing to the carefully crafted cake. And you might be pleased to know they have other cool locations in Penzance, Cornwall and in Pimlico, London.

The grade II listed townhouse hotel features 24 eclectic bedrooms, a cocktail bar, deli- café, guest lounge, meeting room and ping-pong room and two restaurants - The Set, serving a set tasting menu of seasonal dishes, and The Set Cafe, a more casual alternative with seasonal small plates. The hotel is also a neighbourhood hub for many of Brighton’s local creatives.

Each of the bedrooms have been individually designed with original artwork and bespoke furniture. Room facilities include flat-screen TV with free-view, free Wi-Fi and tea & coffee making facilities.

Breakfast is served in The Set Cafe, with a selection of home-cooked dishes on offer using locally sourced produce, including a Mini Full English, American Pancakes and Eggs Benedict.

Brighton Train Station is just a 10 minute walk, with many of Brighton’s main attractions such as the Royal Pavillion, Brighton beach, the Laines and plenty of restaurants, bars and shops just a short stroll away.

Definitely be going back again! ★★★★★

One of the quirkiest and most original hotels I have ever stayed in! Each room has been decorated by a different artist given each room it's own identity, ( what's better than been able to stay in a room decorated by of your favourite artists) I stayed in the Jamie Brown room who's work I admire hugely! The room it self was clean and had beautiful furniture and the best feature a private balcony looking over the amazing and iconic West Pier! As well as the great room, the hotel has an onsite gallery and cafe which in my opinion serves up a brilliant and tasty breakfast, we opted for the Big AR Breakfast which kept us going for hours and was made with the very best produce! I would recommend this hotel to all of my friends and will definitely be going back again!
