A quirky hotel with individually designed rooms and a wonderfully informal atmosphere.
34 Regency Square, Brighton, East Sussex BN1 2FJ 01273 324 302
When it comes to boutique hotels there are few that do it better than the Artist Residence, with 24 guest rooms many of which have been individually designed by their artists in residence! The feel is more homely and eclectic, with an eccentric mix of upcycled and vintage furnishings alongside quirky pop-art prints and touches of retro. The inevitable outcome of such a mix of bedroom styles is an informal atmosphere throughout the rest of the hotel – a laid-back vibe that is reflected in all-day restaurant, cocktail & tapas bar, The Set, on the ground floor and run by chef Dan Kenny.
All rooms are en-suite and most have excellent sea views across the West Pier, given the prime seafront position on Regency Square. Along with flat-screen TVs, free WI-FI and tea/coffee facilities, rooms feature a mix of vintage and up-cycled furniture along with king-sized beds. Breakfast is served in a room with perhaps the best views of all, with an exciting brunch tapas menu created by the team at The Set restaurant and served daily until 1pm.
All in all, Artist Residence Brighton is a very cool place to stay, and the central location merely adds icing to the carefully crafted cake. They also have other equally arty properties in Penzance, Cornwall, in Pimlico, London and in Oxfordshire.
The Grade II-listed townhouse hotel features 24 eclectic bedrooms, plus a restaurant and cocktail bar - The Set - serving a set tasting menu of seasonal dishes, as well as a more casual tapas menu alongside craft draught beers and cocktails.
Each of the bedrooms has been individually designed with original artwork and bespoke furniture. Room facilities include flat-screen TV with free-view, free Wi-Fi and tea & coffee making facilities.
Breakfast is served in The Set Bar, with an exciting menu of brunch tapas dishes and a view over the seafront and West Pier.
Brighton train station is just a 10-minute walk, with many of Brighton’s main attractions, such as the Royal Pavillion, Brighton beach, the Laines and plenty of restaurants, bars and shops, just a short stroll away.
