Fitted within this stunning Glasgow building are 64 boutique-style apartments for shorts stays, weekend breaks and business trips, each with its own living room, kitchen area and place to work. And with the main stations just a five-minute walk away, and a car park nearby, you can be in your new 'home' pretty much as soon as you set foot in central Glasgow.

The studio and one-bed apartments retain many of their original features – nice old fireplaces, the wall panelling and original safes – but you're bang up to date as far as furnishings and fittings go. Sleek, fully fitted kitchens (hob, microwave, fridge-freezer), light and spacious bedrooms and lounges with big windows, and good bathrooms – they don't have the space for baths, but the showers are excellent. For a balcony and city views, book a penthouse. It's an apart-hotel set-up, so there are no public spaces, but the building is staffed day and night and if there's anything you need you can always get help. Two on-site restaurants offer bar-and-grill menus, with a good breakfast served daily in one of them.
