76 Commercial Street Commerical Quay Leith EH6 6LX 0131 553 1818
The other branch of Chop Chop sprang to fame when it was flagged up by Gordon Ramsay on TV as one of the finest local restaurants in Britain. It still is, and this newer Leith outlet is just as good. Lined up alongside stiff competition on Commercial Quay, Chop Chop more than holds its own by challenging diners’ perceptions of what constitutes Chinese cuisine. Dumplings, fried or boiled, are a lip-smacking treat with soy sauce and a slew of fresh ingredients like pork and coriander or beef and chilli. The highlights are the unlimited banquets, a sort of tapas-style feast laden with a constant supply of new tastes, textures and visual fun. New dishes are regularly added, haring is positively encouraged in a thrilling dining experience that could not be more different from some of the tired old Chinese restaurants in the Scottish capital.
