Tapnell Farm Cottages

Newport Road Yarmouth Isle of Wight PO41 0YJ

We say

Located just outside Yarmouth, there are so many reasons to stay at Tapnell Farm, a family-run working dairy farm on the western side of the island whose southern side was the site of the iconic Isle of Wight rock festival in 1970. Nowadays it's home to Tom's Eco-Lodge, whose fab safari tents, cabins and lodges put the glam into glamping. But for those who fancy more traditional accommodation, it also has two self-catering cottages and Tapnell Manor Farmhouse, all of which have equally spectacular views over the Solent.

The large Dairyman's Cottage has recently been renovated and is finished to a very high standard, decorated with modern comfortable furnishings which have a rustic shabby chic feel – sea-grass carpets and wood laminate flooring throughout, beautiful bespoke fabrics, luxury en-suite bedrooms and a high-spec open-plan living area and kitchen. There is a downstairs bedroom and wet room with full disabled access, as well as a garden and patio area with its own bbq, and a log-burning hot tub that's perfect for soothing aching muscles after a long day of walking – or just relaxing under the stars with a glass of wine. Stockbridge Cottage has views over the rolling countryside and down land towards Freshwater Bay and is the ideal retreat for couples, small groups and families hoping to get away from it all for a few days The house is a family home rented by Tapnell Farm on behalf of the owners, but has lots of room and it is tastefully decorated with a large garden surrounding the house with play frame.
The cottages are also right on the doorstep of several footpaths and within driving distance of Freshwater and other great beaches. You can also do a tour of Tapnell Farm Park if you like, and staying here gives a proper insight into life in the countryside, with lots of lambs to pet, 'rescue hens' to collect eggs from and other animals to make friends with. The Cow Co restaurant has lots of scrumptious beef and dairy dishes, the Gift Shop & Gallery has Isle of Wight art & produce, with animals. There's also clay pigeon shooting, adventure activities and much more. Head over to the honesty larder for all of those handy bits and bobs that got left behind. Many people come back here year after year – you will too.
