Blythswood Square Hotel

11 Blythswood Square Glasgow G2 4AD 0141 248 8888

We say

More than a few eyebrows were raised when Edinburgh’s Townhouse Company
decided to transform the city's grand old RSAC Headquarters, which sits on a
square once famous for being frequented by ladies of ill repute. But the £26 million
rebirth in 2009 was nothing short of breathtaking, with the most awe-inspiring
lobby in the city. The sense of grandeur continues in the rest of the public
spaces, as well as the 100 bedrooms and seven suites. The abodes are awash with hardwoods, marble and mirrors, all very tastefully glam and all very New
Glasgow. No expense has been spared at this central hotel and the Blythswood
Square Spa in the basement is superb too. Amongst its impressive range of
therapies are treatments dedicated to men and pregnant women. The hot stone
massage is the stuff of local spa legend. Time in their thermal suite is
included in room rates. After chilling out in the spa cocktails at a choice of
bars and dinner in a hotel restaurant worth staying in for await.

Worth it for the restaurant ★★★★★

We haven't stayed here, but heard it had the best cocktails in town at only £5 a pop. Mal Spence, the mixologist sat down to explain his philosophy behind making an old fashioned, then followed it with drinks that weren't on the menu but he thought we would like. The food is first rate, with delicate starters prepared with flair to a mighty cob of beef carved at the table. This is a serious hotel restaurant!
