Funky, vintage-style, family-run glamping in a gorgeous rural location.
Deep in the heart of the countryside, Clair and Philip Westwood-Deamer's small informal glamping site, situated in the grounds of their gorgeous Suffolk farmhouse, provides the perfect place to immerse yourself in this ultra-rural area, which enjoys an unusually peaceful location yet one that is extremely only easy to get to. It's just a few miles from the A12 but also within easy driving distance of the popular areas of Southwold, Minsmere and the Suffolk Coast. Their formula is essentially a retro one: full-on glamping in a vintage 1970s Castleton Classic caravan, or romantic B&B accommodation in their gypsy caravan and nearby summerhouse.
The 1970s caravan has multiple creature comforts, with a double bed and high-end linen and fluffy towels, a small kitchen with kettle and one-ring hob, and a compact indoor shower as well as a composting loo and solar outdoor shower; they also and also provide bed linen, towels and even robes. A nearby shack is equipped with a twin induction hob, fridge, microwave and sink, plus everything you need for cooking, and there's also a fire pit with wood provided. An oil heater provides warmth for cosy nights in, while bikes are available for adventurous days out – and the hot tub is nice to sink into when you get back from exploring the surrounding countryside. Other thoughtfully provided extras include candles, board games, a radio and phone charger, along with deck chairs and outdoor seating.
There's loads to see and do in the surrounding area, but you may just want to chill out at the site, or opt for one of Claire and Philip's horse-and-trap rides around the surrounding country lanes. It's the perfect country escape.
