Ufford Road Bredfield Woodbridge IP13 6AR 07907964890
Tucked away in the Suffolk countryside, yet just a few minutes from the busy A12, Kay and Graham's five handcrafted yurts are about as idyllic as it gets, occupying a series of flower-filled meadows behind their own rather nice house, just a couple of fields' walk away from the village of Bredfield. Easy to get to, yet hard to leave, it's a beautiful spot, and they have done their best to make it even nicer, with a lovely well-equipped kitchen, a toilet block with a shower and 2 toilets for each gender and a choice of fair trade bed linen from India. The yurts themselves are well spaced out, each named after a different tree – oak, ash, maple, etc – and each has its own wood-burning stove (first basket of wood is provided, thereafter £5) and a barbecue outside. They sleep four comfortably (two couples or a family), and you can pay extra if you need an extra futon. Everything is recycled, they grow their own veg, and you can leave the car where it is because the site is bang on national cycle route 1, with lots of routes to follow. You can store your bikes in the stable block, or you can hire from East Coast Cycle Hire, who will come to you with bikes if necessary.
