Pretty flower-filled baskets and a rickety old blue bicycle announce your arrival at this rustic-chic restaurant. Rather racily, the old building started life as a brothel at the turn of the 19th century, but they've gone for a more romantic feel in the restaurant and the Blue Bicycle makes for a great date night. Dishes here are fresh and seasonal, and while the menu ranges the world there's a great emphasis on using locally sourced ingredients – confit pork belly with apple and chorizo jam, char-grilled local beef or pan-fried east-coast cod with pak choi and won ton are all pretty typical spring menu dishes.
We've been to the Blue Bicycle a few times, and the food has always been lovely – if somewhat overpriced. The specials seem to run out quickly (they've been unavailable when we've eaten after 8pm). The atmosphere is pleasant, though at times you feel a little rushed, and squashed; the tables are very close together. Generally a nice place to eat, though not cheap.
