Holkham Bay boasts the finest stretch of beach on the north Norfolk coast, its golden sands backing onto a ribbon of sand dunes and a beautiful stretch of pine forest. Warblers, flycatchers and redstarts inhabit the drier coastal reaches, while waders paddle about the mud and salt flats. Follow the road from Wells for around half a mile to the car park and café, or follow Lady Anne’s Drive from the main coastal road, the A149, opposite the entrance to Holkham Hall.
