Can you resist a restaurant that promises its grilled dishes are cooked over volcanic rocks imported from Mount Fuji? Well, that’s just one of the things to love about So, which has quite possibly the best Japanese cooking in London.The sushi is truly outstanding and a one-person platter (5 pieces of Nigiri, and a roll) is £18 well spent. But there are some amazing mains that demand your attention: a superlative grilled black cod in saikyo miso (£21), terrific grilled eel (£19), or dishes like fresh octopus and tomato salad (£7.50), soft shell crab tempura (£12), as well as sides like a fabulous grilled aubergine or gobo salad (£4.50). These prices aren’t the cheapest but the cooking compares with the very best.
