Goddards haven't always been in this location, but they have been a bit of a fixture in Greenwich for some time, serving traditional pie and mash, stewed eels and the like to the hungry masses for over a century. Now, you either like pie and mash or you don't, but for those who do, this is the real deal, best enjoyed with lots of liquor and vinegar, and preferably in large quantities. They serve eels too (which would have originally been a staple in the pies), and in a bid to move with the times offer variations on the traditional minced beef pies – chicken,  steak and kidney, even cheese and onion. It's a family business, as it always has been, and the pies are homemade on the premises to their own recipe.
