Canterbury Punting Company

Water Lane Canterbury Kent CT1 2NQ 07786332666

We say

Often overshadowed by famous images of Oxford and Cambridge, Canterbury is an equally peaceful place to punt along between the spires. The Canterbury Punting Company run tours along the River Stour from March till October - lie back and relax on the cushions while someone else does all the work. As well as the standard 40-minute city tour they also offer jaunts out into the countryside and nighttime candlelit ghost tours, all accompanied by a guide in striped blazer and straw boater. Umbrella-like canopies will protect you on rainy days.

Best way to spend time in Canterbury ★★★★★

Having recently visited this attraction all I can say is that I was thoroughly impressed by every aspect! We began by visiting a different river tour company on the high street and asking their prices etc, which sounded ok but not to miss out on a deal we thought it would be a good idea to check the competition just up the road. A very good job too, from the off the chap on the high street seemed very friendly and enthusiastic and tried hard to convince us to come along with him; he did do a great job but for us we were sold when it turned out the tour would be longer and cheaper! We were a fair group so we even got a discount which after a little bit of working out was nearly half the price the other company had said! Well this was just the start of our excellent trip, next we went off to the boats and found they were ready to go as soon as we got there. Our guide Andrew was a super bloke and talk about the fountain of knowledge! One of my friends is a real enthusiast on the history of the city, but even he said he learnt some new things Andrew who must have been around when the first monks turned up in Canterbury or something. Even my wife was enjoying it, the kids were happy looking out for fish and she seemed in her element soaking up the sun. Before too soon the tour was over; for me these two trips were the highlight of our time in Canterbury and we will definitely be returning soon. In the meantime I cannot recommend this company highly enough!
